837,289. Rotary filters. DORR-OLIVER Inc. July 30, 1956 [Aug. 15, 1955], No. 23423 /56. Class 46. A rotary filter comprises filter pans 29, Fig. 3, provided with a suitable filter material, which are mounted on trucks and rotated about a vertical axis of a hub 9. A filtrate outlet pipe 45 at the leading edge of the pan extends into an elbow pipe 15 whose other end contacts a fixed valve plate 18 to supply pressure and vacuum to the pan. A flexible sleeve 48 is sealed at either end to the pipes 45, 15 to allow relative rotation between the pipes. A roller 20 mounted on the inner rear end of the pan moves on a rail 4 while the outer rear end of the pan carries a roller 37, Fig. 2, and moves on a rail 5. The rails 4, 5 are interrupted to allow the pans to rotate about the axis of the pipe 45, the outer leading edge carrying a pipe 44 coaxial with the pipe 45, to allow discharge of the residue in the pans to a shoot 7. The pans are rotated by a sprocket and chain 58 and after discharging the residue the pans rotate to their normal position by engaging a cam shaped part 56 of the rail 5. Plates 57 are provided to prevent the feed of liquid passing between the trays.
