PURPOSE:To provide a high strength spring steel ensuring superior sag resistance for a hot formed spring by specifying the contents of C, Si, Mn and Cr as essential components in a steel. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of a high strength spring steel for hot forming is composed of, by weight, 0.5-0.8% C, >2.5-4% Si, 0.2-1.5% Mn, 0.1-1.5% Cr and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The compsn. may further contains one or more among 0.05-1% Mo, 0.05-1% Ni and 0.0002-0.01% B and one or more among 0.01-0.5% Nb, 0.01-0.5% V, 0.01-0.1% Ti and 0.01-0.1% Al as required. When the steel having the compsn. is used, a high strength spring having superior sag resistance can be hot formed. |
