<p>PURPOSE:To upgrade the color purity of respective color light rays of three primary colors so that the image display with high color reproducibility and high image quality is executed by providing multi-layered dielectric films respectively having wavelength selection characteristics of narrow bands of red, green and blue to three color light incident faces of a dichroic prism. CONSTITUTION:The multi-layered dielectric films 10R, 10G, 10B respectively having the wavelength selection characteristics of the narrow bands of the red, green and blue are provided on the three color light incident faces of the dichroic prism 9. The color light rays are color-separated to three primary colors by two pieces of dichroic mirrors 5, 6 and after the respective color light rays are modulated with liquid crystal light valves 8r, 8G, 8b, the light rays are passed through the multi-layered dielectric films 10r, 10G, 10b having the wavelength selectivity of the narrow bards of the red, green and blue on the three color light incident faces of the dichroic prism 9. The respective color light rays having the extremely high color purity are thereby obtd. and the image display with the high color purity and excellent color reproducibility is enabled.</p> |
