PURPOSE:To make easy the fabrication and the handling of an auxliary electrode by constructing a display device so as to have a display discharge space common to a part of an auxiliary discharge space between the cathode and the anode. CONSTITUTION:Cathode base lines 11 parallel to each other and cathodes 10 for respective display elements are provided on a substrate 70 made of glass or the like. Above the substrate, an insulator plate 80 provided with auxiliary discharge spaces 50 corresponding to the respective cathodes 10 is arranged. Above the said plate 80, an auxiliary anode 300 provided with connecting paths 40 for ionization corresponding to the respective auxiliary discharge spaces 50 is arranged. Further, an insulator plate 90 constructing a part of display discharge spaces 60 corresponding to the said respective connecting paths 40 is arranged above the auxiliary anode 300. On the other hand, on the back surface of the face plate 10 consisting of transparent glass or the like anodes 20 perpendicular to the cathode base lines 11 are provided so as to be exposed partially to the display discharge spaces 60. Thereby the fabrication and the handling of the auxiliary anode 300 are made easy, and a large size highly precise and efficient color display device having high luminous characteristics can be realized in low cost. |
