NEW MATERIAL:A compound (salt) shown by formula I [R<1> is H, lower alkylene or halogen; R<2> is H, lower alkyl or lower alkenyl; R<3>-R<7> are H, lower (halogeno)alkyl or lower alkylcarbonyl; E is H, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkoxy or phenylthiomethyl]. EXAMPLE:N-( 4, 6-Dimethylpyridin-2-yl ) aminocarbonyl-4-methoxycarbonyl-1-phe nylpyrazole-5-sulfonamide. USE:A herbicide. PREPARATION:For example, a 5-amino-4-methoxycarbonyl-1-phenylpyrazole shown by formula II (R is as shown for R<3>; n is 1-5) is treated with hydrochlo ric acid and NaNO2, chlorinated at the 5-position, thiolated with a mercaptan, oxidized, amidated and sulfonamidated at the 5-position. Then the resulting compound is reacted with methyl chloroformate and 2-amino-4,6-dimethylpyridine to give a compound shown by formula I.
