METHOD FOR DRYING METAL FIBER REINFORCED REFRACTORY

PURPOSE:To dry a metal fiber reinforced refractory without exploding in a short time by drying the refractory by heating under special conditions. CONSTITUTION:A refractory obtd. by incorporating 4-5wt.% metal fibers made of SUS430 into a castable refractory consisting of 54.0-95.6wt.% Al2O3 and 2.0-43wt.% SiO2 is heated from ordinary temp. 6 to a first temp. (150 deg.C) 8 at 4-10 deg.C/hr heating rate, cooled once to a second temp. (100-105 deg.C) 9 and held at the second temp. for 5hr. The refractory is then heated to a third temp. (350-450 deg.C) 10 at 35-40 deg.C/hr heating rate and held at the third temp. for about 5hr.
