PURPOSE:To prevent the cutting of a vibration transmitting member due to fatique destruction and to enhance vibration efficiency by increasing the amplitude of the leading end part thereof, by arranging an ultrasonic vibrator so as to cross the longitudinal direction of the vibration transmitting member at a right angle. CONSTITUTION:A horn 3 having a conical shape is arranged to the leading end of a grasping part 2 having an ultrasonic vibrator 1 mounted therein and the leading end thereof is connected to a probe 4 (vibration transmitting member) composed of a metal pipe made of Ti in the vicinity of one end part thereof so as to cross the longitudinal direction of the probe 3 at a right angle to transmit the ultrasonic vibration generated by the ultrasonic vibrator 1 to the other end part of the probe 4. Therefore, the ultrasonic vibration wave propagating through the probe 4 becomes a transversal wave and the stress generated at the part of the node of the vibration wave propagating through the probe 4 becomes small and fatique destruction becomes hard to generate. Since the amplitude of the leading end part of the probe 4 can be made large, vibration efficiency rises and a treatment time can be shortened.
