The use of fibre optic wires between the laminates of the window glass structure, allows them to be positioned in accordance with a predetermined pattern. With already assembled windows, the wires may be fitted with clear tape or special adhesive, but it is really recommendable for this wire installation work to be effect in works, in order to obtain the best results. The fibre wires are positioned in the laminating layer, which comprises polyvinylbuterate, thus affording the max. protection, and at the same time ensure that after installation they are invisible. The pattern in which the wires are arranged depends upon the area of usage of the window. In the mfr. of the laminated window, the fibre wires are laid in the laminating layer before the complete window is fed into a vacuum tempered furnace. By colour or tape markings on the glass, the position of the wires can be indicated, such marking removed after the window has been assembled. Wires passing in and out of the window after installation are connected to a special alarm unit comprising a fibre-optic light source and monitoring and activation components for setting the alarm signal in action.
