The invention relates to an appliance making it possible to transport and handle cylindrical bales (hay, straw, etc.) in order to avoid starting up a tractor in locations to which access is difficult. It consists of a frame 1 ending at its lower part in a rolling assembly 2 onto which there is articulated a lever 3, the frame is made up of two arms joined together at three-quarters of its height by a double hook 4. When the user brings the appliance against the bale, it is sufficient for him to pass the double hook into its upper part and exert a pressure with the aid of his foot on the lever 3 whilst pulling the frame 1 towards him in order for the assembly to move into the transport position. The appliance according to the invention is particularly intended for farmers and stock breeders. <IMAGE>
