PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp print image plane which is easy to see by detecting the peak value of the video component of a video input signal, dividing the detected peak value into a set voltage and determining a threshold level, and performing black-and-white twogradation printing according to the threshold level. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with a peak detector 6 which detects the peak value of the video component of the video input signal and a threshold circuit 7 which divides the detected peak value into the set voltage value; and the video input signal is converted into a black-and-white two-gradation signal according to the threshold level and the image information is printed on thermosensitive paper with black-and-white two gradations. Consequently, a sharp, easy-to-see print image is obtained even with a request which need to have high frequency characteristics such as characters.
