The invention relates to a mezzanine platform comprising a horizontal deck which the user can move manually from a bottom position for temporary use, for example for sleeping, to a top position freeing the surface on the ground over a height which makes it possible to stand there upright. The movement of the deck 2 is made possible by the use of a counterweight 3, whose weight is equivalent to that of the deck and can be varied as a function of the load on the latter. The deck moves in a fixed structure comprising at least two uprights 1 or rails intended to guide it and ensure that its use is safe. The sliding is provided for by the interposition, between the deck and the posts or rails, of rollers or slides mounted on an elastic device.
