MANUFACTURE OF PASTE TYPE CADMIUM NEGATIVE ELECTRODE

PURPOSE:To improve negative electrode's capability of absorbing an oxygen gas and to realize large-current charge by negatively electrolyzing an electrode plate in an alkaline electrolytic solution to provide the electrode plate with the amount of auxiliary charge and concurrently by converting one or all part of copper salt into metallic copper. CONSTITUTION:An electrode plate, whose core material is coated with paste of an active material consisting of cadmium oxide or cadmium hydroxide mainly, is negatively electrolyzed in an alkaline electrolytic solution and provided with the amount of auxiliary charge. Concurrently a conductive matrix of metallic copper is formed on a cadmium electrode by making one or all part of copper salt in the active material into metallic copper. Hence the negative electrode's capability of absorbing the oxygen gas can be improved.
