PURPOSE:To attempt an excellent combustion at every rotation time by providing three ignition plugs in such a way as to pinch the shorter axis portion of a rotor housing and operating respectively and selectively two ignition plugs on a leading side at a low rotation time and also all ignition plugs at a high rotation time. CONSTITUTION:A rotary piston engine 1 has a rotor 3 which is supported by means of the eccentric portion 5 of an eccentric shaft 4, and at the same time, revolves as it rotates through the meshing of a rotor gear 6 and a fixed gear 7. Then, three operation chambers 8 formed between a rotor housing 2 and the rotor 3 conduct respective strokes of suction, compression and exhaust. In the above constitution, three ignition plugs 11-13 which pinch a shorter axis portion on one side at the rotor housing 2 are respectively provided on a leading side, at the center portion of the shorter axis portion and on a trailing side. And two ignition plugs 11, 12 on the leading side at the low rotation time of the engine and also all ignition plugs 11-13 at a high rotation time are respectively and selectively operated.
