PURPOSE:To enable high-speed recording and erasing with a simple optical system and to improve the reproducibility at the time of iterative use by using a thin alloy film consisting of specific metals as a recording carrier of an optical disk and using active ray beams of different energy intensities respectively to execute recording and erasing. CONSTITUTION:The thin alloy film consisting of Sb, Te, Ge, and Pb is provided on a substrate to form the recording carrier of the optical disk. The recording carrier is satisfactorily and surely converted to an amorphous phase and bit data are recorded thereon when this recording carrier is irradiated with the laser beam of the relatively large energy intensity to the shapes of pulse spots. On the other hand, the amorphous state of the recording carrier is crystallized and the recording is erased when the laser beam of the relatively weak energy intensity is continuously projected thereon. The high-speed recording and erasing are thereby executed with the simple optical system and the reproducibility at the time of the iterative use is enhanced. |
