PURPOSE:To prevent the contamination with sundry germs such as different kind of microbial cells during culture process, by using a gas bearing composed of a gas film as a bearing, thereby preventing the intrusion of microbial cells into a small gap of the bearing. CONSTITUTION:A culturing material 10 is stirred with a stirring blade 3 attached to an end of a main shaft 2. The main shaft 2 is provided with a thrust collar 6 is supported with a thrust bearing 5. A journal bearing 4 supports the rotor at two parts. The bearings 5, 4 are fixed to a culture tank 1 via supports 7a, 7b. The gas to be supplied to the bearing is supplied to the gap of the bearing through gas feeding holes 8, 9 to support the rotor and discharged from the tank 1 to the outer atmosphere. The intrusion of microbial cell into the small gap of the bearing can be prevented by this structure to enable the prevention of contamination with sundry germs such as different kind of microbial cells during the culture process.
