PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of noise due to pressure difference in an axial plunger pump and its shortened life due to sliding action by forming each closing valve severally provided at an inlet and an outlet port formed in a cylinder bore in an one way lift valve to be opened and closed by the pressure difference between its primary and secondary sides. CONSTITUTION:A cam plate 12 is provided on the end surface of a cylinder block 11 in which a cylinder bore 15 is formed. A plunger 14 supported by the cam plate 12 through a plunger shoe 13 slides in the cylinder bore 15 with the rotation of the cylinder block 11, and the cylinder bore 15 is severally formed with an inlet port 17 and an outlet port 18, where closing valves 19, 20 are provided respectively. In the above mentioned pump 10, each of the closing valves 19, 20 is formed in an one way lift valve to be opened and closed by pressure difference between its primary and secondary sides. For instance, a ball valve 22 is used for the closing valves 19, 20 respectively, and the ball 38 of the ball valve 22 comes into contact with a ball hole 39 or separates from it to cause the valves 19, 20 to close or open.
