The invention relates to a device making it possible to display a point of an alphanumeric symbol of any matrix configuration by the displacement of a sphere 2 in a tube 1 by gravity effect. The tube 1 has two stable positions provided by any bistable tilting device 6, which makes it possible to cause the tube 1 to tilt on an axis 3 in two positions; one with a positive angle and the other with a negative angle with respect to the horizontal X. The sphere 2 is always displaced into its stable position and makes the display point appear or disappear with its colour being different to that of the tube 1. The length of the tube 1 is sufficient for the sphere 2, at the bottom of the tube 1, to avoid the direct rays of external light sources. The device is intended to produce an alphanumeric display. <IMAGE>
