The machining milling cutter, which includes a milling cutter body 1 rotating about an axis 2 and carrying, at its periphery, a plurality of removable cutting tools or inserts 3 each placed in a housing 7 and immobilised by locking means 8, is characterised by the fact that each insert housing 7 has a first surface for the bearing of a first main face 9 of the insert under the action of the locking means 8 and a second bearing surface 13 for a lateral face 11 of the insert, this second bearing surface 13 consisting of a ramp which is inclined with respect to the axis of rotation 2 of the milling cutter for setting and/or fitting the insert 3, the locking means 8 for each insert 3 consisting of a wedge-type device 18, 19 acting between the second main face 10 of the insert 3 and the milling cutter body 1. <IMAGE>
