PURPOSE:To eliminate trouble for the detecting operation of a disconnection, and also, to generate no functional deterioration of an insulation covering, by detecting different frequencies of an AC voltage charged to a conductor, by two frequency detecting parts of non-contact to the conductor. CONSTITUTION:Each end part of an insulation covered lead wire 1 is charged from AC power sources 19, 20, and frequency detecting parts 13, 14 are moved from one end side to the other end along a conductor 6. Frequencies detected by the detecting parts 13, 14 are converted to voltages being proportional to the frequencies through amplifiers 15a, 15b and frequency/voltage transducers 16a, 16b and supplied to a disconnecting signal generating part 17. When the conductor 6 is not disconnected, both detecting parts 13, 14 detect a composite frequency of frequencies f1, f2, therefore, the converted voltages become equal. When the conductor 6 is disconnected, and a disconnected part X is interposed between the detecting parts 13, 14, the detecting part 13 detects the frequency f1, and the detecting part 14 detects the frequency f2. The detected frequencies are converted 16a, 16b, the converted outputs are inputted to the generating part 17 and its voltage difference is detected, outputted to a display part 18, and the disconnection is informed.
