The motor car window is downward slidable into a well and is guided by a central sectional sheet metal rail (1) with two vertical shanks (2,3), parallel to the window, for two vertically spaced slide members (5). The latter are secured to a plate (7) fixed to a hand-cranked, or motor-driven cable (11) and to an element on the lower edge of the window. - Each slide member has two opposed, parallel, internal faces (30-33) at a fixed distance and in slide contact with corresponding outer faces (23-26) on the respective rail shanks. At least one shank is bent to forma resilient strip (17,18) with one (24,26) outer face at an acute angle (alpha) to the opposite face (23,25) of that shank before the slide members are fitted on the rail.
