PURPOSE:To obtain a freshness-retaining agent capable of deodoring fish and shellfish and maintaining freshness thereof to good state, by using extract of plant of Theaceae or Lauraceae as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:Extract obtained by extracting mainly raw leaf of Theaceae plant such as tea, sasanqua camellia or Lauraceae plant such as Grecian laurel or dried product thereof with alcohol based or ketone based organic solvent, water or mixed solvent thereof is used as an active ingredient and changed to about 0.01-5wt.% water solution, which is then brought into contact with the fish and shellfish or the above-mentioned water solution is frozen and the fish and shellfish are covered with the frozen solution. |
