PURPOSE:To obtain a composition for sealing materials, excellent in applicability and adhesiveness to steel sheet, by mixing a specified powdered rubber with a plasticizer or a softener and an epoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:A composition prepared by mixing 100pts.wt. powdered rubber of a particle diameter <=3mm and a Mooney viscosity at 100 deg.C of 5-30 with 50-300pts.wt. plasticizer and/or softener and 3-50pts.wt. epoxy compound having at least two epoxy groups of the formula in the molecule. When the Mooney viscosity of the rubber used is above 30, it has a viscosity excessively high for a sealing material and markedly inferior in applicability. When the viscosity is below 5, it is remarkably inferior in mechanical properties as a sealing material. Unlike a conventional solvent-type sealing material, this composition, because of its solventless type, can be produced without consideration of problems about working environments, such as toxicity to the human body and a danger of explosion.
