PURPOSE:To obtain an external preparation by adding a bicyclooctane derivative as an active ingredient, thus showing excellent percutaneous absorption and manifesting excellent peripheral vasodilator without side-effect. CONSTITUTION:The subject preparation is obtained by adding 0.001-1% of 2beta-[3'alpha-hydroxy-5'alpha-(or beta, or alphabeta)-methyl-1'-nonenyl-bicyclo[3.3.0]octane or its optically active isomer in a usual manner. It can be prepared into ointment, solution, patch, aerosol, cream or lotion and the dose is 10mug-1mg. Since the active ingredient can be locally applied to the skin, its vasodilating action is localized only the narrow area to which it is applied, and the duration time of the pharmaceutical action is markedly extended.
