<p>A process and a device are disclosed to improve the homogeneity of the fibre distribution during the mechanical production of a fibrous web from a suspension of fibrous materials, in particular during the production of a paper web. The suspension of fibrous materials is ejected (36) as a jet through an opening formed by lips (31, 32) on a headbox and is conveyed on to screening means. On the screening means the suspension of fibrous materials is prograssively dewatered. In order to control or adjust the output of fibrous materials in the feed direction of the machine and transversely thereto, a gaseous, vapor-like and/or fluid medium is pressed in sheet form, for example as an air carpet, against the suspension of fibrous materials, transversely to its flow, in the area of the through-channel of the headbox, preferably at a point near the lip opening. By controlling the supply of said medium it is possible to adjust the flow of fibrous materials.</p> |
