Method for heating charge in an industrial heating furnace, the spatial medium surrounding the charge being brought, during a start phase, to a heat-up temperature lying above the desired temperature for the charge and then lowered to the desired temperature, shortly before the charge has reached the desired temperature, the temperature control influencing the heating power of the heating furnace being acted upon, to control the same, on the one hand with control signals corresponding to the temperature of the spatial medium and on the other hand with control signals which are proportional to the differential quotient of the measured power consumption of the heating furnace, and device for carrying out this method.
