The RAM self-check is performed using a test algorithm in the following steps: in the word-oriented storage cells, the corresponding addresses are stored consecutively in a given sequence, the stored addresses are then read and compared with the absolute addresses and the inverted addresses are coded simultaneously. The stored inverted addresses are then read in the given sequence and compared with the relevant addresses, and the addresses are again coded simultaneously. This process is then carried out in reverse. Defective functioning of the store can be detected by comparison of the addresses read from the word-oriented storage cells with the relevant addresses.
