The invention relates to a simple contrast microscope which is used for carrying out contrast methods. By the arrangement, according to the invention, of an additional diaphragm which can be adjusted in a plane which is perpendicular to the optical axis and a filter in the Fourier plane of the objective and the defined positioning of the image of the diaphragm in the filter, microscopy methods can be carried out which are approximately comparable to the phase contrast, the fringe contrast and the dark field and are predominantly intended for use in routine microscopes. <IMAGE>
