According to the invention, landfill seals with a base-side plastic seal, an at least 80 cm-thick drainage layer and an upper plastic seal are applied, accessible ducts which have outlet openings (windows) passing through the drainage layer at intervals, so that in the event of a leak being found, a tunnel can be driven through the drainage layer, starting from a window, as far as the leakage point and a patch can be welded on there after exposure of the leakage point.
