A quick-opening and quick-closing flow control valve consists of a three-part valve body, in which a sealing cylinder is clamped. A piston, having a plate-shaped piston rod corresponding to an oppositely arranged piston, acts approximately concentrically on the sealing cylinder so that the latter is so deformed, i.e. compressed, in this area that the flow cross-section is effectively closed. After the pressurised medium supply is shut off, the product to be metered, which occupies the flow cross-section fully, reopens the sealing cylinder automatically so that it can then pass freely through the valve body. <IMAGE>
