For the production of thin-walled, thermoformed vessels printed on the underside of the base, base printing is made possible at the full capacity of a thermoforming plant by utilising the elements already provided for thermoforming, punching and stacking the vessels, with little additional outlay. For this purpose, a process is used in which the vessels are printed on the underside of the base in successive operations directly succeeding the moulding and separation and, for this purpose, upon leaving the moulding and separation devices, each vessel is picked up by a printing mandrel and, together with the latter, is conveyed through at least one printing station and at least one drying station. In a device for carrying out this process, a conveying device bearing a printing mandrel is inserted between the punching device, which conveying device extends from below the punching plate, from the openings of which the separated vessels emerge, as far as the stacking device, the printing station or printing stations, containing a series of printing devices in each case, and drying station or drying stations containing corresponding drying devices being arranged above said conveying device.
