PURPOSE:To prevent the double copying of different clock characters resulting from the change of the time data of a clock circuit during a copying or to prevent the different clock characters form being synthesized and copied, by providing a data transfer control circuit between a clock circuit and character signal generator and controlling the transfer of counting data. CONSTITUTION:To a data transfer control circuit 2, a control signal low level is applied from a copying control circuit 4 and the time data from the clock circuit 1 is directly transferred to a character signal generator 3, however, when the copying is started and the control signal from the copying control circuit 4 is changed from the low level to a high level, the time data inputted to the data transfer control circuit 2 is gated and not inputted to the character signal generator 3. The control signal applied to the data transfer control circuit 2 from the copying control circuit 4 maintains the high level state. Accordingly, the character signal generator 3 maintains the time data at the time of starting the copying until the copying is completed and continues to feed the character signal to a character addition circuit 8. Namely, during the copying, a time character signal is not changed.
