In the coating process, the coating 2, 5, 8 is applied in at least two steps, a smoothing by means of a doctor bar 13 provided with surface grooves being carried out for the first application 2, the surface grooves of which doctor bar 13 are formed in the manner of a screw thread or in the circumferential direction. In the second step, the grooves produced in the first smoothing process, in the coating material, are filled. A coating material with a high solids content of more than 35 to 40% is used which does not run during the coating and smoothing operation.
