PURPOSE:To take various tests of a packet terminal without using an actual packet network by providing a control part, a data storage part, an HDLC procedure control part, and a line interface part. CONSTITUTION:This device has the control part 1, a program memory 2, a data buffer 3, a DMAC 4, an I/O port 5, the HDLC control part 6, and the line interface 7. Then a network simulating device operates for a terminal device similarly to a line terminating device to realize procedures of a call connection and a disconnection, and data are processed during data transfer into a form similar to that when the data is passed through the network and then passed to an opposite terminal. Thus, tests are conducted under conditions of abnormal procedure special timing, etc., which are hardly generated when the terminal is connected actually to the network. Further, a test location is freely selected.
