PURPOSE:To inspect variation in the plate thickness of a body to be inspected automatically by pressing a pressure sensor against the body to be inspected and operating variation in its resistance value. CONSTITUTION:A pressure sensor and pressure part 1 consists of a horseshoe spring 5 and the pressure sensor 6 and the spring 5 clamps the body 7 to be inspected across the sensor 6 to apply pressure P proportional to its thickness T. Then the sensor 6 made of conductive rubber decreases in resistance value R as the applied pressure P increases and a resistance measuring circuit 2 connected to the sensor 6 outputs the measurement result to an arithmetic circuit 3. Here, the circuit 3 is stored with the function relation between the thickness T and resistance value R, so the input resistance measurement result is operated to calculate the thickness T, which is displayed at a display part 4.
