A connection member for a water meter (1) exhibits a casing pipe (2) and a rising pipe (4) which is arranged in the interior concentrically thereto. During mounting, a compression spring (22) presses the rising pipe (4) onto a valve seat (11). After tightening of the casing pipe (2), the rising pipe (4) is pressed onto the valve seat (11) by a thread (14), as a result of which the compression spring (22) becomes inoperative. <IMAGE>
