PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head in which electrodes and heat generating resistors have stable resistances, by laminating a binder layer having a high melting point and not containing silicon on the surface of a glaze layer, and forming a common electrode, discrete electrode and heat generating resistors on the surface of the binder layer. CONSTITUTION:A glaze layer 3 comprising an amorphous glass being fired is laminated on the surface 2a of an insulating substrate 2, and a binder layer 4 is formed on the surface 3a of the glaze layer 3. The material for the binder layer 4 must have a high melting point and not contain silicon. A common electrode 5 and discrete electrodes 6 are provided on the surface 4a of the binder layer 4 together with lead parts 5a, 6a therefor, while the lead part 5a for the common electrode is provided along an edge part 2b of the substrate 2. Each of the discrete electrodes 6 is disposed between parts of the common electrode 5, 5, and the lead part 6a is extended therefrom to the other edge part 2c of the substrate 2. A heat generating resistor 7 is provided on the surface 4a of the binder layer 4 across the common electrode 5 and the discrete electrodes 6, and is electrically connected to the electrodes. A protective glass layer 8 is formed by firing on the surface 4a of the binder layer 4. |
