PURPOSE:To check the adequacy of a terminal equipment surely by a host computer while the pass word is not intercepted by the 3rd party by providing a generating section and a storage section of pass word to the host computer and providing a storage section of the pass word to a terminal equipment. CONSTITUTION:When the user of a terminal equipment 2 in an office 4 of a company connected to the host computer 1 via a private line 3 is confirmed, a pass word generating section 8 generates a pass word, it is stored in a pass word storage section 9, sent to the terminal equipment 2 and stored in a pass word storage section 7. When the terminal equipment 2 is brought into a visiting place 5 and connected to the computer 1 via a public line network 6 as a terminal equipment 2', the pass word in a storage section 7' of the terminal equipment 2' is sent to the computer 1. When the same pass word as the received pass word exists in the storage section 9, the computer 1 sends a processing acceptable permission and the processing between the computer 1 and the terminal equipment 2' is started. Then the pass word is converted into a different form by the same algorithm to ensure the protection of the pass word and the computer 1 can check the adequacy of the terminal equipment surely.
