PURPOSE:To automatically identify a disk at the time of its loading and to enable various indications and management, etc., by displaying information on its surface to be readable by scanning in its radial direction or parallel with its diameter. CONSTITUTION:The disk 1 is displayed on its surface 1s in a non-recording part 5 with the information D which is readable by operating in its radial direction or in parallel with its diameter, e.g., a bar code 2 consisting of plural concentric circles b1, b2, b3... having different diameters from one another. By displaying in this method, the information D can easily be read out by an optical sensor, etc., provided on a disk player side at the time of loading the disk 1 into the disk player. Moreover, since the sensor scans the disk 1 in the radial direction or parallel to the diameter, the bar code 2 can be read out without fail at whatever the loading angle of the disk 1 is positioned, and also the number of readout times is twice, thus promoting the reliability accordingly.
