PURPOSE:To enhance the transport efficiency of a coil and to simplify packing, by a method wherein a lower box opened at the upper surface thereof and the upper box engaged with the lower box are provided and a shutter is opened and closed in conjunction with the rising and falling of the upper box so that the upper surface of the upper box is closed when the upper box is raised and opened when said box falls. CONSTITUTION:A metal strip coil 1 is received in a lower box 2 and placed on the coil receiver 7 provided to the bottom frame 4 of said box 2. Subsequently, the compressed air supplied in a conduit from a hose connecting metal jig passes through the air supply pipes 9 provided to four corners of the bottom frame 4 in an erected state to be injected in the square tube-shaped columns 15, 15' of an upper box 3. The upper box 3 is raised by the pressure of said compressed air to cover the periphery of the exposed part of the coil 1. With the rising of the upper box 3, shutters 23, 23' are drawn out from take-up boxes 14, 14' by the wires 25, 25' mounted to the upper ends of the shutters 23, 23' at one ends thereof and the lower parts of the square tube-shaped columnar bodies 15, 15' at the other ends thereof. The drawn out shutters 23, 23' move along a guide rail 22 to collide and contact with each other at the central part of the horizontal part 22b of the guide rail 22.
