PURPOSE:To eliminate the wasteful roll-up of a thermal transfer film by detecting whether data for printing black is contained in print data of one line or not to judge whether an IDF drive motor is rotated or not, and controlling the motor according to the judgement. CONSTITUTION:A controller 110 judges whether black data in print data of one line is present or not according to the signal of a terminal Q of a flip-flop 501. If even one bit of black data is contained, the signal of the terminal Q becomes logic '1'. Accordingly, in this case, an IDF drive motor 109 is rotated similarly to a conventional one to be prepared for next printing. However, if no black exists in the print data, the signal of the terminal Q remains '0'. Thus, in this case, it is prepared for next printing without rotating the motor 109. Further, when the print data is continued, similar operations are repeated. The motor 109 is controlled by the controller 110 to eliminate the wasteful feed of a thermal transfer film. |
