Novel phenol derivatives of the general formula: <CHEM> wherein R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, R<5>, X, Y and n are as defined in the specification, which have therapeutic and prophylactic activities against cerebral, cardiac, renal and pulmonary circulatory system diseases, respiratory diseases, allergy, anaphylactic shock, endotoxin shock, inflammation and the like as well as inhibiting activities against vascularization by oncocytes.
