PURPOSE:To prevent a refrigerant from supercooling by liquefying steam to be generated out of a main cooling passage, circulating the low boiling point refrigerant between a water jacket and a radiator with a condenser in a sub- cooling passage, and feeding the radiator downstream with this liquefied refrigerant. CONSTITUTION:A main cooling passage 3, where a low boiling point refrigerant is circulated, is formed between a water jacket and a radiator 2 of an engine body 1 via a water pump 5. When engine temperature exceeds the setting value almost equal to a boiling point of the refrigerant by a temperature sensor 11, solenoid three-way valves 9 and 10 are transferred by a control unit 12, whereby the refrigerant comes to flow in a bypass passage 8, thus a changeover from running water cooling to evaporative cooling takes place. The evaporated refrigerant is liquefied at a condenser 13 via a stream separator 7 in the bypass passage 8 and a sub-refrigerant passage 14, and it flows into a second passage 15 of the main cooling passage 3 at the downstream of the radiator 2. |
