PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a contour effect based on a reproducing output and to improve the accuracy of track width by embedding a nonmagnetic material in track width regulating grooves on the abutting face of a ferrite block. CONSTITUTION:The grooves 32 for regulating track width are formed on a magnetic gap forming portion on the gap-opposed face (abutting face) 31a of the ferrite block 31. After embedding the nonmagnetic material 33 in the grooves, unnecessary nonmagnetic material parts on the face 31a are removed and a track part held between two grooves 32 is exposed, so that a ferrite block 31 embedding the nonmagnetic material 33 only in the grooves 32 can be obtained. A coupling interface between ferrite and metallic magnetic materials 37, 37' is inclined from the magnetic gap 41 to form rugged structure. Consequently, the contour effect can be neglected and the magnetic head cores with highly accurate track width can be mass-produced.
