PURPOSE:To control catenary to be the optimum with a simple structure by controlling so as to define the length of a material between a pair of bridles only when there is the connecting place of materials with different dimensions or different qualities in a material which is being conveyed between the pair of bridles. CONSTITUTION:A bridle 4 on the out-side carries out speed control while a bridle 3 is controlled in its driving so as to bring a catenary position close to a target catenary position set by a catenary position setter 31 by means of a position control circuit 32. Then, when a welding point exists between the bridles 3, 4, a strip length deviation counter 36 is reset by the control signal of a welding point tracking circuit 37 through a counter reset circuit 38 while also switching over from the position control to a material length defining control by means of a relay 39. Thereby, the bridle 3 is driven so as to define the length of a strip 2 between the bridles 3, 4. Hence, any inconvenience in catenary position control caused by the change in a catenary shape resulting from the difference in weight in a strip across the welding point can be removed preventing variation in the catenary position. |
