PURPOSE:To obtain a paint improved in abrasion resistance and not easily abraded even when it is polished with, e.g., a grained nylon scrubber, by adding abrasive grains to a transparent paint. CONSTITUTION:A paint is formed by adding abrasive grains to a transparent paint. Examples of said paints used include those containing, e.g., inorganic materials such as an alkali silicate and silica sol, thermoplastic resins such as an epoxy resin, an alkyd resin, organic materials such as a thermosetting resin and, optionally, colorants, thickeners, dispersants, thixotropic agents and precipitants, etc. The amount of the abrasive grains used is preferably 1-25wt.% based on the total weight. When this amount is below 1wt.%, the abrasion resistance can hardly be increased, and when this amount is above 25wt.%, the transparency of a film tends toward decreasing. The particle diameter of the abrasive grains is preferably 0.1-10mu in terms of an average particle diameter. When it is below 0.1mu, the abrasion resistance can hardly be increased, and when it is above 10mu, the tendency toward precipitation increases.
