A 5-aminopyrazole of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 represents alkoxycarbonyl, alkenyloxycarbonyl, alkinyloxycarbonyl, alkenylaminocarbonyl or alkinylaminocarbonyl and R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7, which are identical or different, represent hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylsulphonyl, alkoxycarbonyl or a radical -(X)n-R8 wherein X represents oxygen, sulphur, sulphinyl or sulphonyl, n represents 0 or 1 and R8 represents halogenoalkyl, with the proviso that at least one of the radicals R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 represents a radical -(X)n-R8, but R1 does not represent cyano if R1 represents trifluoromethyl. These compounds are intermediates useful in the preparation of herbicidally active substituted 5-acylamino-1-phenylpyrazoles.
