PURPOSE:To simplify the cooling structure of a superconducting magnetic field coil while enhancing stability in cooling, by cooling the end part of a heat transmitting member, which is brought into contact with the superconducting magnetic field coil, while providing a fluid reservoir, which stores liquefied gas, adjacent to the coil. CONSTITUTION:Heat transmitting member 8 is provided in a cylinder 7 in which a superconducting field coil 1 is built, and one end of the heat transmitting member 8 is brought into thermal contact with the superconducting field coil 1. The other end of the heat transmitting member 8 is protruded from an end part shaft 4 of the cylinder 7, forming a protruding part 9. The superconducting magnetic field coil 1 is indirectly cooled by cooling said protruding part. Further a fluid reservoir 14, which stores liquefied gas 16, is provided adjacent to the field coil 1, and a communication pipe 15 holds a pressure in the fluid reservoir 14 to a fixed level. A thermal load change of the superconducting field coil 1 is absorbed by the latent heat of vaporization of the liquefied gas 16. In this way, stability of cooling can be enhanced.
