PURPOSE:To make the titled circuit usable for a terminal equipment by generating an ON signal when circuits A and B are not connected, generating a signal according to the signal of the circuit B when the circuits A and B are connected and the reception through a signal line is selected, and generating the ON signal at the selection of non-reception. CONSTITUTION:A function whether or not a signal through a signal line is received is provided, and when the circuits A and B are not connected, an ON signal is generated, a signal according to the circuit B is generated when the circuits A and B are connected and the reception through the signal line is selected, and the ON signal is generated in the selection of non-reception. Thus, even if a specific control line has no output from an opposite device (MODEM), the corresponding signal line to an interface circuit 12 at the terminal equipment side is an open input thereby receiving the ON signal. As a result, in receiving an OFF signal, even when the processing sequence of the terminal equipment is to stop or interrupt the processing, the processing is initiated or continued because the control line receives no OFF signal.
