PURPOSE:To prevent the circulating current by using two reverse current blocking GTO thyristors in combination in anti-parallel connection. CONSTITUTION:GTO thyristors 31, 41 are connected in anti-parallel directly and GTO thyristors 32, 42 are also connected in anti-parallel directly. Even when both the GTO thyristors 31, 41 are turned on simultaneously at the application of the interrupter, the discharge of snubber capacitors 61, 62 through the GTO thyristors 31, 42 is blocked by diodes (71, 81, 91, 101) and (72, 82, 92, 102). Instead the snubber capacitors 61, 62 are discharged by the electrification of a discharge semiconductor switch 16 via the diodes 121, 141 and resistors 131, 151 and the discharge semiconductor switch 16. Thus, the circulating current is prevented, and a problem due to the circulating current is solved.
