PURPOSE:To produce a multicore optical fiber core strong against bend, torsion, and lateral pressure by charging a lubricant in the space between a twisted material, where plural optical fiber strands are twisted together, and a coating layer having an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of the twisted material. CONSTITUTION:Optical fiber strands 2 are twisted together at >=200mm. pitch around a central line 1, and a high polymer material coating layer 4 having an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of this twisted material 3 is provided around the twisted material 3, and a lubricant 7 is charged in the space between the layer 4 and the twisted material 3. When lateral pressure is applied to a cable, the shape of the twisted material 3 is broken easily to be flat, and this deformation relaxes the stress of lateral pressure together with the action of a large twisting pitch to supress the increment of transmission loss.Thus, the multicore optical fiber strong against bend, torsion, and lateral pressure is produced. |
